On Saturday, June 6 Mayor of Napoli, Italy, Dott. Luigi De Magistris will be making a very special visit to Little Italy in the Bronx. Mayor De Magistris will arrive in the afternoon and be welcomed by a reception in the Arthur Avenue Retail Market hosted by Federazione Delle Associazioni Della Campania USA, Mike’s Deli and The Belmont Business Improvement District. David Greco of Mike’s Deli will give Mayor De Magistris a taste of the “real” Little Italy by demonstrating how he makes his world famous fresh mozzarella. Mayor De Magistris will be escorted throughout the neighborhood to meet with many of the business owners who have been here for generations. A special visit will be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where Mayor De Magistris will greet Father Jonathan Morris, the parish priest. A visit to Bronx Little Italy would of course not be complete without experiencing an authentic Italian meal. Mayor De Magistris will dine at San Gennaro Ristorante which will no doubt remind him of home as the owners are from Fuorigrotta, a western suburb of Naples. The Belmont Business Improvement District along with all the merchants of Bronx Little Italy are deeply honored to be involved with this memorable experience.
